I know you miss Gwen Stefani Harajuku Girls, that’s why I am presenting you gothic clothing which is part of the H fashion.
So you think we are flying to UK underground or Japan? No way. Gothic fashion is everywhere around the world. If you are to catch everyone in gothic outfits you would need to tour around the world in 80 days with Jackie Chan. Most of you must have noticed my style where I would crap a little first, stop myself from crapping before going into the gist. Alright, let’s get to business.
What Is Gothic Clothing
It’s a clothing style practiced by the fans of the Goth subculture, which is commonly known as a dark, gloomy at times, eroticized trend and fashion of dress. The more common one encompasses black dyed hair and clothes. Everything is in black like dark eyeliner and fingernails for both male and female gothic lovers.
Gothic clothing style is more or less inspired by the Victorians and Elizabethan Era clothing. BDSM (bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism) images and paraphernalia have a close lineage with it too. I am not going to go into details about BDSM as you can see from the little description in the bracket which is kind of erotic stuff to discuss more here.
Nonetheless, you got the idea. Paraphernalia is a term for a type of disease where the patient has special, and sexual, inclination towards objects which is not conventionally thought as being sexual in nature. Anyway, if you know how to appreciate the aesthetic part of gothic garments, it could be a really invigorating and attention-grabbing fashion.
Gothic Clothing Magic - Why People Love Gothic?
Top 4 reasons gothic style has been adopted by the cults.
- It serves as an otherworldly channel for self-expression. I meant not a medium you could find in mainstream clothing style.
- While it is closely related to BDSM, activities like sexual roleplaying, sexual fetishism, power exchange and so on are other forms of arts which only the Goths see the values. One got to understand that it is not a form of sexual abuse but is rather exercised under the philosophy of “safe, sane, and consensual (SSC) or the risk-aware consensual kink (RACK), which is a more permissive philosophy.
- The ember of the passion for Elizabethans and Victorians somehow trickles into a wild fire for contemporary gothic clothing. They just can’t help falling deeper in love and getting more obsessed with it.
- The fascination with morbidity or vampire style says a lot that gothic lovers incline towards the sense of alienation. Black gothic garment implies grief, despair and mourning for the dead. They feel the fashion as a revolution from alienation through self-expression and a sense of attaching to the community which the members have the same sense of alienation. Otherwise, gothic fashion mirrors the inclination towards the murkier side of sexual activities.

Instead of creating an A-list of top ten gothic styles I have simply collected 8 street-captured photos which might give you some good ideas for your next pick.
