Aboriginal clothing is not synonymous with Australian clothing, it’s a common fallacy. We have a better idea and a better place to shop for the clothes.
When we are talking about Australian clothing, it mostly refers to the modern fashion like the famous Quiksilver, Roxy, Billabong, Rip Curl and so on. When you are talking about Aboriginal clothing, it has to do with the ethnic Aborigines, which is commonly known as the indigenous Australian.
For easier discussion, we will have traditional Australian Aboriginal clothing and the modern clothing.
Traditional Aboriginal Clothing

Aboriginal Clothing and Dancing
The clothes of the Western Australia’s native inhabitants were highly influenced by the European during the colonial times in the twentieth century. Before that, clothing was not a necessity all the time based upon the climate of each region. Skin cloaks made of possum or kangaroo skin were worn to protect those in cooler areas from cold and wet. In hot dry regions or in summer, Aboriginal people did not wear clothing or only short fringes (made of string, fiber, feathers or the tails of small animals) over their private part. However, instead of clothing in a European sense, adornment was used for traditional ceremonies.
In certain regions, women wore skirts woven from leaves. Both Aboriginal men and women also wore necklaces and pendants made of shells, teeth or bone. Some groups made headdresses from emu feathers or other materials during unique occasions.

Unlike the evolution of Iroquois clothing and Mexican clothing into the modern clothes like jeans and t-shirts while traditional clothes only worn during ceremonial occasions, modern Aboriginal clothing is created by some contemporary designers and art groups in the reflection of the ancient culture and preservation of the cultural integrity of the ethnic.
In other words, the contemporary Aboriginal fashion brings the traces of traditional Aboriginal clothing into runway shows of present days.
